Today’s Devotionalโฆ
It is very irritating to most people when you tell them to repent. In fact, if you are still reading this right now, then it must be the Holy Spirit is indeed leading you.
When we hear “repent” it sounds like an accusation. It indirectly implies to many that you are living a “bad” life, and so need to change from it. But this is just a misinterpretation of repentance.
Our opening verse, for example, is simply asking us to “repent”. And that simply means to change our minds. But why would you need to change your mind? The verse says because you have been “transformed”
It is the Greek word “metamorphoล” which means to change into a different form or to transfigure. Imagine someone telling you that you have been changed into a different being, wouldn’t you want to know what you have been changed into? And imagine being changed into a fish for example, wouldn’t it be necessary to consider how fish live?
When you look at it this way, you will see that it is rather critical to change your mind or “repent”. Yes, because you are no longer who you used to be, nor where you used to be. Repentance will give you rest in your new identity and new habitat. Ponderโฆ
In Christ, you are a new creature; a different species from the man that lived in Adam. Repent and know yourself; it will make life much easier.
May the Holy Spirit help you to “repent” in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
