Today’s Devotional…
The word “remission” in the verse above is the Greek word “aphesis” which actually means to release (someone) from bondage or imprisonment,
letting them go as if they had never committed any of the acts they were being accused of.
Before the coming of Christ, the world was divided into two groups of sinful men: Jews and Gentiles. While the Gentiles didn’t know what to do about their sin, the Jews had a prescribed ritual of sacrificing animals to “cover” their sins for a short period of time.
When Jesus came, He annihilated sin by the sacrifice of Himself in the place of animals.
The death of Jesus Christ was the last sacrifice for sin, because unlike animal blood that covered the sins of the Jews only for a while, the blood of Jesus uprooted and permanently discarded the sins of all mankind (both Jews and Gentiles) forever!
With such an action, there would never be any need for another sacrifice since there is no sin left. Ponder…
May the Holy Spirit open your eyes to see that the one sacrifice of Christ was enough for all, in His Holy name. Amen
