This is one of the most controversial verses in the Bible which leaves many readers thinking that they can actually obtain salvation by their personal efforts.
Haven’t you read it? Paul, who is the same author of this book, said in also Romans 3:20: “โฆTherefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sightโฆ”
So, how do you think you can “work out” your salvation when obviously, obeying the law cannot achieve that?
Oftentimes we tend to give a lot of glory to ourselves and our dead works forgetting that it was Jesus Christ who died on the cross for us.
Listen, if it did not die on the cross for you, whatever it is, it doesn’t deserve the glory. It is blasphemy to acclaim yourself for fasting, praying, and obedience to the law, to obtain salvation, when it was Jesus who bore all the pain and shame.
Your fasting, prayers, or strict practice of the law cannot take away sin. When the Bible said all had sinned, it included even Moses – the custodian of the law. That should tell you that salvation cannot be attained by works.
Jesus Christ is the sole hero who saved mankind from sin and created a sin-free world for you to live in today. The only “work” left for you to do is to accept this priceless gift of righteousness and live in it accordingly.
It is He who died on the cross that deserves all the glory. Fasting didn’t die on the cross for you, neither did prayer or obedience. You owe it all to Jesus Christ; and not to your works. For if it were by works, then the cross would not be necessary.
All glory for salvation belongs to Jesus. May you give Him the glory accordingly from today, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
