Romans 10:17
(KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Today’s Devotional…
Doubt is not necessarily denial. Sometimes, we exhibit doubt because we are ignorant, and sometimes we exhibit doubt in order to consolidate our faith.
In John 20:25 when the disciples informed Thomas that they had seen the Lord with their own eyes; Thomas, still unconvinced, replied and said: โThereโs no way Iโm going to believe this unless I personally see the wounds of the nails in his hands, touch them with my finger, and put my hand into the wound of his side where he was pierced!โ
This scenario earned this faithful disciple the name “Doubting Thomas” However, after that encounter, Thomas’s faith was so strong that nothing in this world could change him, because he saw with his eyes and touched with his hands.
Sometimes, God will permit some things to happen to you just to help you build your faith in Him. When you have a genuine hunger for God, signs and wonders will surely increase your faith and not your doubts.
In John 1:49-50, Nathanael believed Jesus because Jesus said He saw him under a fig tree.
So, sometimes even when you ask God for something in doubt, He can still give you so that, as a child’s faith in the mother is built, your faith in Him may be consolidated.
May your faith never fail, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
