Galatians 4:19
(KJV) My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
Today’s Devotional…
Here, the apostle Paul is experiencing what he describes as “labor pains” just to see Christ formed in some people he called his children.
However, what is disturbing here is that Paul says he was going through this “spiritual labour” for a second time. Now, if you knew what labour pains feel like, you would totally agree with me that it is naturally illegal to labour to birth the same child twice.
But what Paul is expressing here is that it is “excruciatingly painful” or way too difficult to bring someone to the full knowledge of their measure of the stature of Christ.
However difficult this may appear to be, it is not a one-time thing. You may have to “labour” for several hours on several occasions just to see Christ completely formed in one person. No, it doesn’t come by laying on of hands, but by intensive strategic studies of the finished works of Christ.
The lukewarm Christianity we have today where pastors desire fame and their members seek miracles, can hardly produce one man in whom Christ is fully formed. This laxity is born from our ignorance of what it truly means for Christ to be formed in you.
Colossians 1:27 says: “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
The mystery of Christ being formed in you is the expression of God’s greatest mystery revealed in time.
May God grant you the patience to sit under sound doctrine until Christ be fully formed in you, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
