Galatians 4:13
(KJV) Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first.
Galatians 4:14
(KJV) And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus.
Today’s Devotional…
When the apostle Paul preached the gospel in Galatia for the first time, he came with a physical ailment on his body they would normally have made the people treat him with contempt, and possibly reject the gospel because of his appearance; but they did not. Rather, they received him (with his infirmity) as joyously as they would have received Christ Himself.
The Galatians looked beyond the physical appearance of the Apostle Paul and accepted the good news hidden within. If they had been judgmental to question why the Christ Paul claimed to preach had not healed him, they would have missed out on God’s blessing for them in that season.
Oftentimes, the gospel comes to us in unattractive wrappings. If you cannot see beyond that outward appearance (which is oftentimes deceptive,) you may never fully receive the gospel.
God is not quite interested in using gimmicks to “convince” unwilling individuals to believe the gospel of their own liberty in Christ. If the birth, death, and resurrection of Christ are not enough for you to believe; the truth is, even if you saw the greatest signs and wonders ever performed, you will still be unwilling to believe.
Even today, some men of God who succumb to the pressure of their followers who, without seeing a “proof” cannot believe, try to somewhat “package” themselves to just fit the expectations of their congregants.
In the days of Christ, they said to Him: “…physician, heal yourself…”, and those who expected “evidence” before they could accept the gospel were left out in their time. Ponder…
The gospel is Christ and Him crucified, resurrected, and now reigning.
May the Holy Spirit help you to learn to look beyond the weaknesses of the messenger of the gospel, so that you can receive the fullness of the gospel, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
