COME TO ME…

𝗠𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟭:𝟮𝟴 𝗞𝗝𝗩 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗲, 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘃𝘆 𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁.

Today’s Devotional…

Who was Jesus talking to in this verse? You may say, probably anyone overburdened with the challenges of life. But Jesus meant something deeper than that.

Jesus here, uses the Greek words kopiaō for labour, and phortizō for heavy laden. These two words together express exhaustion from struggling tirelessly to uphold the Law in the hope of finding righteousness, all to no avail.

Jesus was not calling individuals to come to Him to obtain some temporary rest. He was calling ALL mankind who were exhausted from personal efforts to please God, unto eternal righteousness that is FREE.

Jesus was calling all mankind to REST from their works as it is written: for by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin” Rom 3:20 KJV

It is also written in Hebrews 4:10: “For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his”

Selah!

Jesus was calling ALL sinful mankind to come to Him and obtain eternal righteousness that they could never get by works. He was calling Adam to come and have REST in Him. Abba Father!

There is no rest out of Christ, and there are NO works in Christ. Ponder… It is all grace! It is God’s gift to mankind, and you are a beneficiary. Abba Father!!!

May you experience this gift of rest in Christ in your personal life from today, in His Holy name. Amen
