Today’s Devotional…
The apostle John here said that Jesus had “life” in Himself, and this “life” was the “light” of men.
This description of the Messiah here reveals the mystery of the universal salvation plan of God for all men.
The second part reveals that this “light” began to shine in “darkness” and the darkness could not withstand it.
Coded within these lines of scripture, was the revelation that the righteousness of God through Jesus Christ would involuntarily pour on all flesh, and no one would be able to resist it.
Just as darkness, does not argue with light when the light is turned on, so did the price Jesus paid silence all the voices of accusation over all men.
It was God who desired to see His light shine on all men; that is why He gave Jesus a life that was sufficient to shine as light on all men.
No, it wasn’t the darkness that called for the light, but the light came without the opinion of effort of the darkness. In other words, what motivated God to send righteousness to the sinful world was simply the fact that the world was sinful, and not that the world worked to become righteous.
The life of Christ is the light that shone on all men, making all men righteous apart from the law.
May you find direction in this light, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
