Today’s Devotionalโฆ
Why are you a Christian? Can you pause and try to answer the question without being misled by the verse above?
Many Christians today think that what makes them Christian is the so-called “salvation prayer” they made when they supposedly “got saved”, but the truth is, they are Christians simply because they were born into a Christian home or into a community where churches existed.
Do you know there are over 4,000 religions in the world today and Christianity is only one of them? I bet you didn’t.
And did you know that within Christianity alone, there are over 45,000 denominations in the world today? Now you know.
Listen, if all these options (4,000 religions) were never put before you to choose from amongst them all, then know that you only become a Christian by God’s doing. Ponderโฆ
It is God who chooses where and when you should be born, and by whom. So, God personally put you into Christianity (not your confession of prayer) to be able to show you His unconditional love for all mankind up close. Ponderโฆ
Listen, from God’s standpoint, there is neither Christian nor pagan but one perfect humanity in Christ, all thanks to the finished works of Christ.
Do you know you could have been in sin (i.e. before the death and resurrection of Christ) if God wanted to? Oh yes, but He (in His infinite wisdom and love) chose for you to be born at a time and age where sin has been completely dealt with. Ponder deep.
So, why are you Christian again? If you think it is by your efforts or your choice, then you still haven’t understood the love of God.
May the Holy Spirit answer your questions, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
