Today’s Devotional…

“God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself”? And is anything impossible for God Almighty? Ponder…

From our opening verse, we see that God Himself was the one in the body of the man Jesus Christ, with one assignment: to reconcile the world back to Himself.

The question is: “Did God fail?” If “Yes”, then two things are true:
1. God is NOT all-powerful,
2. Man is not yet reconciled to God.

But if God did not fail, (and God cannot fail.) Then God is surely;
1. All-powerful, and
2. Man is already reconciled to God.
The former is true; God, in the body of Christ, accomplished the reconciliation of God and man.

Many people who cannot fathom this reality are simply limited by their human perspective.

Human nature has been so twisted into believing in salvation by their own works that anything that challenges the status quo is immediately vomited out as heresy. Well, your feeble feelings cannot override the holy scriptures. Ponder…

The only one seeing himself separate from God is you. As for God, He sees Himself in you, and you in Him.

So, instead of trying to re-reconcile with a God who already dwells in union with you, check your spiritual eyesight, and you will see that God, when He was in Christ, reconciled all mankind to Himself some 2,000 years ago.

May the Holy grant you understanding, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Today’s Devotional…

Preachers of Christ are not motivational speakers, but devout men and women who preach Christ; from His birth to the cross, and to His glorification.

Nowadays, multinational speakers get so much attention and popularity that some pastors have decided to become motivational speakers, simply seasoning their talks with “a pinch of Jesus”. Laughable.

While motivational speakers are trained to say what their audiences want to hear in a bid to motivate them towards a desired direction, gospel preachers are called to preach only Christ; through whom the sin of the world was taken away.

In the days of the apostles, the world probably had more problems than we have today, and desiring to hear something motivational to solve those problems, yet, the apostles gave them nothing but the gospel of Christ.

That is what Paul was talking about in 1 Corinthians 2:1-2: “And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified”

So, whether there be financial problems, marital problems, health problems, etc, if “Christ and Him crucified” is not enough for you, then you are looking for a motivational speaker and not a pastor. But ironically, your solutions lie in the foolishness of the preaching of Christ, and not in the enticing words of your motivational speakers. Ponder…

These are the days of 2Timothy 4:3-4 which says: “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables”

But if the preaching of Christ does not motivate you enough to give me attention, let it be known to you that I will still preach Christ crucified – for that is the only gospel.

May the Holy Spirit replace your hunger for motivational messages with the hunger for the gospel of the finished works of Christ, in His holy name. Amen
