Today’s Devotional…
Most of what is considered wrong or right in today’s world is simply based on the cultural norms in the area where you find yourself, and not necessarily on scriptures.
The Apostle Peter, in the portion of Scripture above, was so immersed in Jewish culture that even God’s counsel sounded “wrong” to him. God had to rebuke him three good times before he could give it a thought.
Sometimes we so strongly hold onto some cultural beliefs that we unconsciously tend to assume that they are scriptural. This is the position of most religious folk today.
Many Christians are trapped in the chains of laws created by Religion and backed by cultural norms, but not sanctioned by God.
Religious chains are so strong that they can build into your subconscious mind and form a stronghold in your conscience. But listen, just because your conscience disagrees with something, doesn’t make it wrong before God. Hold on, see the verse below:
1 John 3:20 If our conscience condemns us, we know that God is greater than our conscience and that he knows everything. (Good News Translation)
Listen, search the scriptures to find the undiluted truth. Stop following religious and cultural norms that are scripturally unfounded. Listen to God, and not the world.
You are perfect in Christ. May religion and societal pressure not steal this reality from you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
