Today’s Devotional…
While the Jews and the Romans only saw the man Jesus on the cross, in reality, there was much more happening in that place at the same time.
While Jesus was being crucified, there was another crucifixion (the other crucifixion) – the nailing to the same cross of every ordinance that ever stood to accuse man.
You see, when sin came upon the pure creation of God (Adam,) God did not see him as dirty as the sin, but He saw man simply as a clean being, with a speck of filthy sin on Him.
Right from that time, God purposed in His heart, not destroy His pure creation together with the sin, but to separate him from the sin and destroy the sin. This is what a human mother would do for her child, and that is exactly what God did on the cross for all humanity.
Seeing that death gets its power from sin and sin from the law, God simply destroys the law on the cross, thereby permanently silencing sin and death. That is the totalitarian salvation act of God – none lost, none missing.
The crucifixion of Jesus Christ was indeed the crucifixion of the one thing that kept all mankind in captivity since the fall of Adam – sin.
God is love, and He is all-knowing. He would never leave the guilty devil unpunished but chose to rather destroy His creation. No. Ponder…
May the love of God that surpasses every understanding (by the law) be revealed to you in totality, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
