Today’s devotion…

Is Jesus a sinner? It is very difficult for a regular Christian to imagine this, let alone say it aloud. To him, it just doesn’t sound right that Jesus should be a sinner, even if he can’t support it with Scriptures – he just knows.

But our opening verse says that Jesus was made sin, not just a sinner, but sin itself. As a Christian, you must try to process this because it is the only way out for you to process your righteousness. Ponder…

Yes, there was a great exchange! Jesus Christ swapped positions with sinful mankind and became sin, so that humanity could become righteous.

If it is difficult for you to accept that  Jesus Christ became sin, it will be difficult for you to accept that you are righteous.

Yes, Jesus Christ took the sins of all mankind upon Himself and became the only sinner in existence when He was on the cross. And for justice to be satisfied, the only thing was for Him to die – for that was the wages of sin.

Now, if Jesus did not die, then He would still be a sinner. But if He died, then justice has been done – “for the soul that sinneth should die” according to the scriptures.

Now, if man is still a sinner, then Jesus died in vain, and the sins He took upon Himself were again redistributed to all men. This would mean God failed. Ponder…

And whether Jesus is a sinner or not, man remains righteous because He took away the sin of all men and faced the punishment man should have faced. And if He is alive today, it is because sin and death no longer have power.

The law ends when its penalty is paid in full. Justice prevents the enforcement of a law after its penalty has been paid.

Similarly, (however Jesus came back to life,) the law could no longer have power over Him, because He paid the death penalty for sin. God’s justice, prevents the law from acting beyond death.

So, Jesus is not a sinner, and most importantly, you are not either. If you focus on this truth, the eyes of your understanding will surely be enlightened and your entire life will begin to change from glory to glory!

May the Holy Spirit grant you understanding, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
