Today’s Devotionalโฆ
Many people think that to preach, they must memorize a lot of scriptures and develop an eloquent tongue before they can do that. No.
In 1Co 1:17, Paul says God sent him to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect. So you can preach without words.
St. Francis Assisi once said: โPreach the gospel at all times, and when necessary, use words.โ This is too deep.
No matter how eloquent you may be or how educated you may be with scriptures, if your life does not preach the gospel first, your words are simply in vain.
Remember, the people around you don’t necessarily believe what you tell them about yourself, they believe what they have keenly observed about you over time.
Your life can only preach the gospel if your spirit, body, and soul have believed and accepted it. And at this stage, you don’t need too many words to preach.
Paul got to this level when, in 2Co 3:1, he asked, “Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you?” Yes, there is a dimension you get to with God that you don’t need to “conceive” people with words.
Imagine what Paul said in Gal 6:17: “From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.” So if you can’t believe what you see, you won’t believe the words.
Give your life to the gospel, and your life itself will preach the gospel at all times, and when necessary, you may add a few words, and lives will surely change!
May your life become the message of Christ to others, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
