Today’s Devotionalโฆ
How was Jesus the Christ or the Messiah? First of all, you must understand why the Jews (and, in fact, the whole world), waited anxiously for a certain “Christ”
“Christ” comes from the Greek word “Christos” which simply means “Anointed”. And, anointing, was an event that signified the conferring of authority to a man to act in a particular office.
So what was the anointed individual expected to achieve in his assignment? Why did the whole world need him?
Well, it is easy. One thing that was common with the whole word was sin. And if the whole world (both Jews and Gentiles) needed one person so badly, It should have been the one who would solve their common problem – sin
The man Jesus is the one who got the anointing and fitted Himself perfectly in the office of the Christ. He paid the full price with His precious blood to take away the sin of the world, and on the third day, He rose again from death and is seated right now by the right hand of God the Father Almighty! Abba Father!!!
It is this Jesus, who is the Christ. And if He is Christ, then He fulfilled the prophecy of John, as the Lamb of God who took away the sin of the world.
The Christ is the one who took away the sin of the world, and that is Jesus.
May the Holy Spirit give you understanding concerning this critical issue in the name of Jesus Christ Himself. Amen
