Today’s Devotionalโฆ
Many people think that Jesus came to show them a better way to live so they may follow, to appear better before God. These people are the supposed “followers” of Christ. But how true is that?
Now, the verse above says that most of what Jesus did was not recorded. How then do you practice those that were not written?
John 20:30 records as well: “And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book”
But this verse gives more clarity because it calls the “things” Jesus did, “signs”. Remember that signs in themselves are simply pointers to the object of focus and not the object in themselves.
So, it is erroneous to follow the signs Jesus performed instead of focusing on what the signs were pointing to.
But John 20:31 shows us what all the signs (written and unwritten), were pointing to: “But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name”
Now, if one sign points you to a destination, and you get there successfully, would you need any other signs to show you where you already are? Ponderโฆ
Jesus did not come to show you “a way of life.” He came as “The Way of life.” When you step into Him wholeheartedly, you will get to the full understanding of His finished works as the Messiah, which is the final destination the signs were pointing to.
May you not be a follower of Christ but one who finds rest in the destination that He was pointing to, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
