Today’s Devotionalโฆ
If you are reading this devotional right now, remember that Paul did not address this letter to you; for you were never once dead (in sins), nor ever needed to be quickened. However, you share the same life in Christ with those who were quickened.
So who is it that died and was quickened? Adam. Yes, Adam only began to multiply after he had already sinned, giving rise to simply multiple copies of his sinful nature. But the wages of sin being death, all men just had to die.
However, in Mat 27:52-53 it is recorded: “โฆAnd the graves were opened, and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto manyโฆ”
The question is; if all men had sinned and were all deserving of death, why did these individuals rise with Christ? Well, it was an indication of the resurrection of all sinful men in Adam by virtue of the price Christ paid.
This is what Paul was talking about in 1Co 15:45: when he wrote: “โฆAnd so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit”
So the conclusion was all about the 2nd and last Adam giving life back to the first Adam. In this way, nothing is lost, and none is lost.
If God is indeed all-mighty and all-knowing, then what Paul wrote in Col 3:3 makes more sense: “โฆFor ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in Godโฆ” Who can pluck man out of such a fortress? No one!
May the Holy Spirit reveal to you the beauty of His totalitarian salvation plan for mankind, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
