Today’s Devotionalโฆ
Moses wrote down 613 very stringent laws all in a bid to make men righteous. But after a long period of about 1,400 years, Moses found out that righteousness could not be attained through all these many laws he wrote.
At the time Moses wrote the law, it was obvious that his desire was to see men righteous and perfect. But clearly, Moses had no clue how much it would really cost to pay the full price for sin.
It was not until the coming of Christ that Moses, after noticing that the only currency that was acceptable in heaven to pay for the sin of men was the blood of one man called Jesus, that he understood and testified that not even all his laws put together can make even a strand of hair righteous. (See our opening scripture)
Listen, if it is not exactly equal to what Jesus suffered on the cross, then it cannot pay for sin. Even Moses, at the transfiguration, testified that all 613 laws He wrote, counted as nothing, compared to the price that Christ was to pay for the sin of mankind. (So he recommended Jesus instead)
And you still think you can get righteousness “apart” from Christ, simply by observing a few laws set by your congregation? Do you think God was stupid in killing His only Son instead of just asking Him to obey some laws? Think againโฆ
If you had any idea what Jesus really went through on that cross to be able to pay for sin and secure the righteousness of men, you would not try to equate it to a couple of things you do in the name of obeying the law, when the 613 laws of Moses could not achieve anything Ponderโฆ
May the Holy Spirit open the eyes of your understanding to see the full price that was paid for sin on the cross, so that you may appreciate your righteousness better, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
