Today’s Devotional…
The church of today (especially in Africa) has taught Christians to believe that all the church can offer is summarily healing, deliverance, or breakthrough.
So, after the people come to church and receive their healing, deliverance, or breakthrough, they leave the church because there is seemingly nothing more the church can offer.
Now, we have churches filled with the sick, the possessed, and the frustrated in life. Simply put, we have a church too weak to lead the world in any capacity.
And the result of this is that the world is now leading and commanding the church, whereas it ought not to be so.
It is quite sad to see Christians boast in their number of cars, houses, investments, travels, etc; and their pastors boasting in the sizes of their auditoriums, the number of branches they have, or the number of miracles they performed.
They do not boast in the cross because they do not know the cross. For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto them which are saved it is the power of God. (1Co 1:18 KJV)
It is the cross of Christ that reconciled the sinful world back to God, and united the renewed man with the new man (that is, the first Adam and the last Adam)
We boast in the cross because our righteousness came from the cross. We boast in the cross because it gives us power before the “Accuser of the brethren” who cannot accuse us any longer, since the price for sin was paid completely on that cross.
If you know what Jesus Christ really achieved on that cross, you will boast in the cross and not in material achievements. For what shall it realy profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his soul? (Mar 8:36 KJV)
May the Holy Spirit open the eyes of your understanding so that henceforth, you will boast only in the cross, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
