THE NEW HEAVEN AND EARTH

𝟐𝐏𝐞 𝟑:𝟏𝟑 𝐊𝐉𝐕 𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐰𝐞, 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞, 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡, 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐧 𝐝𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐡 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬.

Today’s Devotional…

Where is this “New heaven and New earth?” Well, if it were heaven alone, it would be easy to assume (as usual with church goers), that it is somewhere beyond the sky. What complicates it is the earth part.

Well, notice the common denominator of the new heaven and the new earth – righteousness. So, where is righteousness found? If we find the answer, we will have found the new heaven and the new earth.

Heb 13:14 says “For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come” Many people actually sought this city…

But Heb 2:5 gives us a clue to that city, or at least its ruler. “…For unto the angels hath he not put in subjection the world to come, whereof we speak…)

And further in Heb 11:10 it is recorded:  “For he (Abraham) looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God” So, who can this be?

It is Jesus Christ. He is the city Abraham was looking for, and it is in Him that dwells all righteousness. Jesus Christ, is the New Heaven and New Earth in whom all righteousness dwells.

And as the apostle Paul says in Acts 17:28, it is in Christ that we live, and move, and have our being. If we all live in Him, and He is righteous, then we ought to live in righteousness because the same Jesus took away the sin of the world.

May the Holy Spirit help you to understand your rights and duties as a citizen of the New Heaven and the New Earth, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
