Today’s Devotional…

Many Christians say Jesus died for their sins, yet, they act as if Jesus only made an advance payment for sin, waiting for men to complete it in a later future.

In Jesus’s very words to God (as indicated in our opening verse), He said: “I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do” Which work was that?

Jesus also said “It is finished” What finished? If we cannot answer these questions with clarity, it will be difficult to understand “the gospel”.

If you think there is anything you can do to complete your righteousness, then what you are saying is that Jesus only made an advance payment for sin, and left the balance for you to pay through your obedience.

Now, take a good look at the sufferings of Christ, from the scourging to the cross, which part of that can you handle? Yes, if you say His suffering was not enough to pay for sin, then you should be able to bear part of the suffering to complete the price.

Listen, you cannot help God. If Jesus hung on that cross for 12 long hours, it was because God said it would take exactly that long to pay the full punishment for sin.

You cannot survive five minutes on the cross. You cannot help God. And Jesus did not complain when He paid the price. He did not need man’s help, it was man who needed His help.

JESUS PAID IT ALL! And you owe ALL to Him; nothing to your efforts or your strength.

May Christ become your testimony from today, in His holy name. Amen
