Today’s Devotional…
The word “steward” is the Greek word “oikonomos” which means something deeper than its peripheral meaning.
“Oikonomos” is a manager or household affairs (sometimes a slave,) to whom the head of the house or proprietor has entrusted the management of his affairs, the care of receipts and expenditures, and the duty of dealing out the proper portion to every servant and even to the children not yet of age.
When you understand what it means to be a steward in this sense, you will automatically feel the need to be truly faithful.
One thing a steward never forgets is that he is not the master. And this simply tells you that you have an account to give for every single decision you make.
It is this understanding that births humility in every true child of God and calls for genuine faithfulness and accountability.
Listen, God owns all things and has all authority and power. We are only stewards, and we will give an account of everything that has been entrusted to our care, even the gospel of Christ.
Be faithful.
May the Holy Spirit be your guide, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
