Today’s Devotionalโฆ
Most of our churches today do not give room for questions. In fact, asking questions in some churches is even considered a taboo.
Of course, in a church where pastors only make vain “declarations” and their followers shout “I receive”, you cannot expect questions and answers in such an arena.
But our opening verse reveals, that at age 12, Jesus listened to doctors of the law and asked questions them hard questions. Listen, you will never grow in knowledge through prayer or by laying of hands. No, you have to ask intelligent questions to grow.
The reason why many churches still do not have basic knowledge of the gospel in this information age is simply because they don’t ask questions. And this is a shame.
Listen, accepting everything your pastor tells you even if you don’t understand is not humility but a weakness, and interrupting your pastor to ask him a question during service is not arrogance but a strength.
Many Christians today practice so many useless religious rituals that they can’t explain, yet they do not bother to ask questions to know why they do (or not do) certain things.
Listen, the current laxity in the church today will not be able to produce the kind of quality leaders that can satisfy the curiosity of the next generation. Reposition yourself now before it is too late.
If you can’t ask questions today, you will be irrelevant in tomorrow’s world, and may not even be able to survive its pressure. Ponderโฆ
You can begin with this question: “What is the gospel of Christ?” You can keep asking it until you understand your pastor.
And today, feel free to ask me any questions as well.
May the Holy Spirit give you such a hunger for knowledge that it will embolden you to ask intelligent questions with an open spirit to learn, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
