Today’s Devotional…
According to the apostle John in the portion of scripture above, to be born of God is to accept and believe in Jesus Christ. This automatically makes you a child of God.
This precision was necessary because of the understanding men had of human conception and childbearing.
While the natural process in humans for bearing children would involve conception, gestation, and delivery, the divine process for childbearing is simply believing in the one who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born by the Virgin Mary.
This gives every believer in Christ all divine legitimacy to identify as God’s children.
And God’s legitimate child, you have a legal heritage in the finished works of Christ, reserved by God for you.
But as noted in Galatians 4:1-2 you need maturity to access what is yours in Christ.
It reads: “Now I say, that the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; but is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father”
So, instead of comparing yourself with others and questioning whether you too are a child of God, seek knowledge and maturity to be able to unlock from the hands of your “tutors and governors,” that which has been rightfully yours since Christ’s finished works.
May your hunger for truth bring you to the maturity you need to release all that is yours as heritage from God, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
