Today’s Devotional…
Who was crucified with Christ, and why? If you cannot answer these critical questions, you will find it hard to understand the gospel.
To answer these questions, you must, first of all, understand the requirements and implications of the law of Moses. According to the law, every soul that sinned should die; and all had sinned.
So, to fulfill the law, all men had to die. Jesus provided His body as the assembly point for all sinful mankind, so that the law of sin and death could be fulfilled in Him. Ponder…
So all sinful mankind (including apostle Paul before the cross,) were indeed crucified with Christ spiritually. But interestingly, they were all again quickened with Christ at His resurrection according to Ephesians 2:1.
So, clearly, the life that these people who witnessed the crossing from sin into righteousness didn’t actually have any life of their own but the life of Christ – a new life.
After the cross, all lives consist in Christ, as it is written: “…in Him, we live and move and have our being…” But while some got baptized into the new life of Christ, others were born there.
So, if you are reading this devotional, know that you were not crucified with Christ, but you were born in Him.
May the Holy Spirit grant you understanding in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
