Today’s Devotional…
Many people who try to attain righteousness by the works of the law always find themselves ashamed before God because they simply can’t keep the law.
When you live by the laws that say “Thou shalt not fornicate or lie”, for example, and you come to God guilty on both counts, you will always come in shame knowing you have broken the very laws you vowed to keep.
If only you knew that it is only God who has the power and will to keep you from fornication and lies telling, you would come to Him without shame, and open to let Him help you.
The scriptures say: “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world” (1Jn 4:17 KJV)
God doesn’t look at you through your acts or works; God looks at you through the faith and finished works of Christ. So, it is only as He is, that God sees you.
God is not ashamed of you, He knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb, He nows your every step, He knows your weaknesses, and He knows your deepest secrets.
God knows everything about you, yet He is not ashamed of you because, just as a mother cleans up her child who falls in the mud, God knew that it was His responsibility to clean mankind from sin since the fall of Adam, and He did.
If God was not ashamed of the sinful mankind, would He now be ashamed of the righteous in Christ? Certainly not.
So why should you be ashamed before your Father God who cleansed the whole world of sin just to prepare a sin-free world for you?
The life you live is the life of Christ. When God looks at you, it is Christ He sees. When you come to God ashamed because of your works, you are canceling the works; you are antichrist. Ponder…
For Christ’s sake, may you never be ashamed beofe God, in His holy name. Amen
