Today’s Devotionalโฆ
The gospel is oftentimes wrapped in packages of shame and disgrace; but inside it, is hidden the power of God unto the salvation of mankind.
Christians are oftentimes mocked and asked the question why God would have to kill His only Son just to save them, when He could just save them otherwise.
Even the people who crucified Jesus mocked Him and provoked Him to “come down from the cross” if He could; and, He didn’t. Instead, He died.
I can imagine the shame and the disappointment on the faces of the disciples when they heard their all-powerful Master say “it is finished”, and actually died.
They were mocked and asked: “He said He could destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, and He cannot save Himself from a simple cross?”
How does it even make sense that God’s formula for the salvation of all men was the death of one man? Come on, think about itโฆ
The gospel, in every sense, was wrapped in so much shame that men ought to be ashamed of, and indeed many were.
But as the apostle Paul affirmed, even I, will NOT be ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.
Whether it makes sense to you or not, all men were saved in Christ on that cross at Golgotha. I am not ashamed of that!
In a world where men of God boast of their large auditoriums, their private jets, their numerous branches, their huge bank accounts, their lands, and their houses; I will boast of THE GOSPEL, for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.
May you never be ashamed of the gospel of Christ, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
