Today’s Devotional…
It is not a fairytale. Some 2000 years ago, a man indeed died, was buried for three days, then rose again to life and now lives forever.
His name is Jesus Christ.
In a world without recordings, cameras, or storage drives, living witnesses were the primary source of evidence. They were far more important than we realize today.
Having more than five hundred living witnesses to testify on a single case made it quite authentic at a time when two witnesses were enough to establish a case according to the law.
The Apostle Paul wrote the above letter at a time when more than 250 of these eyewitnesses to the resurrection of Christ were still alive, and no one contested his claim.
We can therefore boldly conclude that Jesus indeed died, stayed in the grave for three days, resurrected, and ascended into heaven bodily, according to the recordings of the eyewitnesses.
Having established that the resurrection of Christ was absolutely true, it is safe to conclude that the purpose of His death and resurrection has been accomplished – sinful mankind has been forgiven, and given the gift of righteousness in the life of Christ. Ponder…
May the Holy Spirit reveal Easter to you beyond a mere festive holiday, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
