Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in me, thought he were dead, yet shall he live (John 11:25)
Today’s Devotional…
Before Lazarus’ death, Jesus had said that he wasn’t going to die; but he died. When Jesus eventually got to Bethany four days later, Martha and Mary came to Him and said, “…Lord, if you were here, our brother had not died”. But then, Jesus said something so extraordinary! He said, “…I am the resurrection and the life…” (John 11:25).
Only God can make such a claim. And rightly so, Jesus is God! He did not say, “I have the power to resurrect men”; which would have been wonderful enough, but He claimed the very essence of the resurrection.
So who are we dealing with here? Who’s this Jesus? If they wondered that He walked on water, it was nothing compared to this statement. He is the resurrection, not the “resurrector”.
Just picture Mary and her sister complaining bitterly: “This man opened blind eyes and made the lame walk, He could have healed Lazarus if He had been here in time”. For that was all they imagined Him to be – a healer. However, Jesus decided to reveal something they never imagined; He said, “I am the resurrection and the life”
That statement was too deep to be ordinary. For Mary and Martha who thought the resurrection was a given day, just found out that it is actually a person – Jesus Christ!
All you need to do is just be in the presence and you will experience the resurrection. And we are blessed today to know that the resurrection power dwells in us. Is that not wonderful?
Listen, today, that Christ lives in you, and means you have become the resurrection! If you believe this, then you can resurrect anyone and any area of your life.
I pray for you today; that you will come to the knowledge of that authority in you that is able to resurrect anything and everything in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! Amen
