Today’s Devotionalβ¦
According to the norms and principles of the kingdom of God, little children are not necessarily those who are young and inexperienced but those who choose faith over reason.
Jesus, responding to His disciples when they asked Him who should be the greatest in the kingdom of God, told them that it would be those among them who would be converted to be like children.
Little children accept what you tell them, but adults only accept what aligns with their convictions. That’s the difference.
Jesus told them this because He foresaw that they would want to argue the salvation package that would soon be announced to them by grace, given that they had lived all their lives believing in works.
Whenever an unfounded religious belief takes hold of your soul and tries to override the simplicity of the gospel message of Christ, then you have unnecessarily become “an adult”, incapable of accepting the truth.
The gospel is simple: once all men were sinners, God came as Jesus, and made all men righteous again. Yes, that is the gospel. Simple. Little children accept it without arguments, without questions.
But if you cannot accept the simplicity of this truth, that does not mean that you are not a citizen of the kingdom, it simply means you are not the greatest in the kingdom.
May the Holy Spirit help you to become the greatest in God’s kingdom from today, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
