Hebrews 12:2
(KJV) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

“Author” (Greek: archฤgos) means originator, pioneer, or founder. And, “Finisher” (Greek: teleiลtฤs) means perfecter or completer.
Together, this simply means that Jesus is the one who initiates or begins your journey of faith, and also brings it to its full maturity. Ponder…
Simply put, it is the faith of Jesus Christ that delivered man from sin, and sustains you even today. Faith begins with Him, is sustained by Him, and is completed in Him.
Gal 2:16 says “…Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST…” It is the faith of Jesus Christ and not the faith in Jesus Christ. Ponder…
So, the righteousness of man is not dependent on the faith of man but on the faith of Jesus Christ. However, man needs to believe that he is righteous, to be able to profit from this righteousness, or to make use of it.
May the Holy Spirit lead you to your reserves in the finished works of Christ, which is your righteousness, in His Holy name. Amen.
