Today’s Devotional…

The dead in Christ are free from sin. The question is, who are the dead in Christ?

Paul reveals that he was one of the dead in Christ when he uses the word “we”.

But if anyone died with Christ, then everyone died with Christ because no one had the option whether or not to choose to die with Christ. Ponder…

Further investigation from scripture confirms that it was actually all men that died with Christ, and that it was involuntary.

To die with Christ is not a decision someone takes but the decision Christ took when He drew all men to Himself when He was lifted up on the cross.

So, if the dead in Christ should be free from sin, then all men were freed from sin at the event of the death of Christ.

Now, if sin should still exist after the death of Christ, then the dead in Christ are not actually free from sin, and Christ Himself should still be with sin as well; in which case His death would have been totally unnecessary. Ponder…

But the dead in Christ were indeed freed from sin, were resurrected with Him, and shared in His righteous nature at His resurrection. This is the good news – the gospel of Christ.

May the Holy Spirit guide you to find the answers that pop up in your spirit and grant you the humility to accept the answers in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
