Today’s Devotional…
For generations, we have been taught about faith IN Jesus Christ, but what about the faith OF Christ? Did Jesus Christ have faith in undertaking the journey to the cross, or maybe He was just doing it as a gamble, hoping it would turn out to be the salvation act for mankind? Ponder deeply…
No! Jesus knew more than anything that He was the permanent solution to the sin problem of the whole world. Jesus Christ had faith, and it is the faith of Jesus Christ that produced the involuntary salvation of all mankind.
Jesus was not just some blind overzealous martyr who was out for an adventure, or to gain fame; but for the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross, despising the shame, so that He could sit down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Heb 12:2)
Rom 8:3 says: “For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh”
You see, when man was somewhere in deep sleep and still sinful, God decided independently (without man’s prayers or even consent) to send Jesus Christ to save all very sinful men from sin. What unconditional love!
It was this Jesus who took the journey of faith, believing that His sufferings and eventual death would indeed free all mankind from sin. And, indeed, His faith produced results!
Man was saved by the FAITH OF JESUS CHRIST and not by the faith IN Jesus Christ, because it was not for those who knew Him that He came to die, but for those who did not know Him. And how can you have faith in who you cannot know? How could the man before the Christ be saved by faith IN a Christ that had not yet come? Ponder deeply…
We are in Christ today because He believed in His works and not because we believed in His works. Yes, our unbelief does not change His faith, and even our faith does NOT boost His faith. Jesus saved man all by Himself!
May the Holy Spirit grant you understanding, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
