Today’s Devotionalโฆ
This is one of the greatest bible mysteries of all time. For from creation to this time, it was only permitted for the unjust to suffer for their acts, and the just to be rewarded for their acts.
So, God, being a God of justice, had to make sure that no sinful man goes unpunished. But on the other side, God equally had to uphold His integrity in justice to ensure that no one righteous man suffers any punishment.
However, the scenario in our opening verse seems to test the very justice system of God: a sinner getting rewarded, and a righteous man getting punished.
But this was not injustice; it was the “great exchange”. This happened when the sinner (Adam) could not pay for his sin, and the righteous man (Jesus), who had what was required to pay for sin, paid for the sin of the sinful.
If the death of Christ did not pay for the sin of Adam, then God cannot be a God of Justice. But guess what, God is a God of Justice!
There was a great exchange where all sinful lives were swapped with the life of Christ so that all sinful mankind could enjoy the reward of righteousness. This was the epitome of God’s wisdom and love. It was God’s most precious gift to mankind – the gift of righteousness.
May the reward of Christ from the great exchange be made visible in your life from today, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
