Today’s Devotional…
According to the scriptures, Jesus Christ was sinless and so was never supposed to die according to the law. For death was prescribed only to the souls that sinned.
So, the death of Jesus Christ was not actually His (for He did not deserve death) but the death of all sinful mankind.
For all sinners to have died was simply the fulfillment of the law of sin and death; but for them to have been resurrected again sinless, was simply grace.
The resurrection of Christ was indeed the resurrection of all sinful mankind, but this time around without sin, and incorruptible. This was the great resurrection – one of the greatest mysteries of all time.
When Jesus went to the cross, He took with Him the sin of the whole world. When He went to the grave, He went with all men but all the sin was left behind on the cross.
So, the great resurrection was the resurrection of perfect men in Christ. That is the epitome of God’s unconditional love.
May the Holy Spirit grant you understanding of this mystery, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
