Today’s Devotional…
Contrary to popular belief, the temptations of Jesus were not His encounter with the devil when He returned from the forty-day trip to the desert of Judea.
Our opening verse above was Jesus’ biggest temptation ever. In fact, it was His only real temptation.
Here, Jesus was actually tempted to CANCEL His very mission on earth. Coming down from that cross (which was something He could do) would have jeopardized His entire purpose on earth, and mankind would still be unsaved today. Ponder…
While hanging on that cross, Jesus had drawn all men to Himself – all sinful mankind, about to be saved. Imagine what would have happened if pride had made Him come down from that cross. Just imagine…
It was on that cross that the transgression of all men was nailed. What if Jesus came down? Imagine what you would have been today…
Thank God Jesus OVERCAME the temptation – the biggest temptation ever. HE OVERCAME!
Because Jesus overcame the temptation of His life, you will overcome any temptation that tries to make you deny your identity in Christ, in His holy name: Amen
