Today’s Devotional…
Before Moses came, all mankind had been struggling with sin but could not find a solution to it. In an attempt to solve the sin problem, Moses wrote down 613 different laws which only helped reveal the intensity of the preexisting sin in men.
Despite the purity of Moses’ intentions, the law could not solve the sin problem simply because it was weak.
This is clearly stated in Romans 3:20 which says: “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
Now, if the law of Moses was weak to save man from sin in the past, despite the purity of his intentions, you surely don’t need a prophet to tell you that the law cannot help you today.
Listen, the law was neither designed to prevent men from sin nor to save men from it. Ironically, the law was meant to be broken, so that all mankind could be guilty of sin before God.
This sad reality is confirmed in Romans 3:19: “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become GUILTY before God.”
Romans 8:7b reveals further that it is impossible for human nature to obey the law, making it even clearer, that the sole purpose of the law was to accuse and condemn men.
So, to solve the sin problem which was obviously beyond man, God sent His Son Jesus Christ who came and condemned sin in the flesh once and for all.
Today, many Christians have rejected the finished works of Christ and have employed the very laws that failed Moses, in the hope of tackling the sin problem. Listen, you are not greater than Moses when it comes to the law, and Moses was not saved by the law.
See, the law cannot save you. The salvation that only God could give, already came to humankind some 2000 years ago.
You don’t need the law, you need an understanding of your portion in the finished works of Christ. Selah
May the Holy Spirit grant you understanding in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
