Today’s Devotional…
While the Jews had physical tablets of stone on which their laws were written and handed to them by Moses, the Gentiles offered their hearts for God to inscribe His laws directly on them.
Nevertheless, whether Jews or Gentiles, no one was able to justify themselves by the obedience of the law, for no one could obey the law.
For when the Gentiles to whom the law had explicitly said “thou shalt not kill”, found that the Gentiles who had no physical law also refrained from killing, they understood that they were all under the same law.
And just as the Jews could not observe the law, the Gentiles too were struggling to no avail.
Jesus came because all humanity failed to observe the law. He came to rescue them from the frustration of having the desire to obey the law, but no ability to do so.
Whether Jews or Gentiles, the law could not make anyone righteous, because it was not mere knowledge of the law that justified men, but the strict obedience of it – something that was impossible for both parties.
Jesus Christ in his death and resurrection, saved the whole world from the power of sin and death. This is the salvation story of all mankind.
May the Holy Spirit grant you understanding in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
