Today’s Devotional…
Sacrifice is defined as the destruction or surrender of anything for the sake of something else regarded as more urgent or valuable; also, the thing destroyed or surrendered for this purpose.
In this definition, and all other definitions of sacrifice, one only sacrifices something valuable, in order to gain something much more valuable.
And in no definition of sacrifice does one sacrifice to lose. Rather, every sacrifice is an investment of valuable items to be able to get more valuable ones.
But when it came to Jesus, our opening scripture reveals to us that He sacrificed Himself to die for the sin of mankind.
Come to think of it, what kind of man sacrifices himself in death except the One who has the power to raise Himself from the dead after His sacrifice?
Yes, it is Jesus. He sacrificed himself because He considered man more valuable than Himself, and He also knew that death was not the end of all things. Abba Father!
Jesus sacrificed Himself, not to gain anything for Himself, but to give everything to sinful mankind.
Yes, salvation was given to mankind free of charge, but it cost Jesus Christ everything – it was a selfless sacrifice.
May the Holy Spirit grant you understanding in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
