Today’s Devotional…

The apostles were eyewitnesses of the power of God which is the cross of Christ unto the salvation of mankind.

While all the prophets of old only saw the salvation of man ambiguously in visions, the apostles of Christ saw it physically by witnessing the sufferings and eventual death of Christ on the cross.

So when the apostles preached the salvation of men, they did not preach in doubt like the prophets of old who had no clarity of what they prophesied, but they preached with boldness, for they spoke about what they had seen with their very eyes.

It is difficult to believe that the sufferings and death of one young Hebrew boy many years ago could be responsible for the salvation of all men, except that you saw the sufferings yourself, or at least had fellowship with those who were themselves eyewitnesses.

This is because the sufferings of Christ were simply indescribable. But by the Spirit of God, in our fellowship with the apostles through the accurate records of the sacred scriptures, we have come to know that the cross was indeed the power and wisdom of God!

May the Holy Spirit take you into fellowship with the apostles of Christ, so that you may see the power and wisdom of God in the cross, and with the same boldness of the apostles, proclaim the perfection of man by all means, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
