YOU ARE NOT ABANDONED

Today’s Devotional…

The Bible makes us understand that when Jesus was eventually arrested to be crucified, Peter (who earlier swore to be with Him all the time) only followed Him from a DISTANCE.

There are challenging moments in your life where you expect your closest collaborators, friends, or family to be with you, but they appear to follow you from a distance.

Yes, many people will surface in your life only after you have finished your journey of agony alone. They will tell you they were praying for you, even though you couldn’t see them.

It is at this time that many feel abandoned and develop hatred in their hearts against men. But it was not supposed to be so.

You see, Jesus was left alone to experience this agony so that you would not have to go through the same pain again.

He was rejected so that you would be accepted. He was abandoned so that you would be accompanied. He willingly experienced pain and shame to qualify as the One to lead you through your most difficult moments.

In Matthew 28:20, Jesus told His disciples (including Peter, who denied Him three times,) that He would be with them ALWAYS.

So, whenever you come to that place in your life where it feels like you have been left to face your fiercest storms alone, remember that Jesus is with you right in the storm, and that He has faced worse than whatever you can ever experience.

So, instead of crying and cursing others in times of abandonment, turn to Jesus with an open spirit, trusting Him that He has enough experience to guide you through your season of loneliness.

What are you going through in this season that friends and family can only follow you “from a distance”? Remember you have a reliable friend in Jesus who will never desert you.

May the Holy Spirit revitalize your whole body, spirit, and soul as He walks you out of your toughest moments, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
