Today’s Devotional…

Just as a man leaves an inheritance for his children and his children’s children, God (your true Father) left an inheritance for you.

Whereas men may leave material wealth (and perhaps with a condition attached to it) as inheritance, God, without any conditions attached,
left His holiness (which was His most precious gift) as an inheritance for you. Shout Abba Father!

When a man leaves an inheritance for his great-grandchildren he has never met, it is independent of whether they would be “good” children or “bad” children, but solely dependent on the love that motivates Him at the time of writing the will.

If mere men can leave an inheritance for their children regardless of their future deeds, why is it difficult for you to believe that God who created you left you an unconditional inheritance?

This is confirmed in Rom 8:29-30: “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified”

So yes, God knows everything about you today both the “good” and the “evil”. He knows even the good and evil you are yet to “commit” in the future.

But listen, He didn’t just find out about you now, He foreknew you. That is, He sat down looking at you way before the foundations of the world. He knew every evil thing you would do that would make you think you don’t deserve to be called “holy”, but the love in His heart that motivated Him was far greater than your “thoughts” of self-condemnation.

It is not as though God, when you looked at you from that far back saw you perfect by your own works. No, He saw you struggling to no avail to be perfect, so decided to conform you to Himself by Himself, and justify you to Himself by Himself; both things which were accomplished through Jesus Christ in His finished works.

In conclusion, you have an inheritance in the finished works of Christ, and that is righteousness (or the holiness of God Himself). And if you only knew the value of this inheritance, oh!

May the Holy Spirit grant you understanding in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
