Today’s Devotional
While it is true that we will share in the wonderful glory of God in eternity, it is necessary to note that Jesus Christ did not die just to go wait for men in the afterlife while they suffer on earth. No, it was for this life also that Jesus died.
Jesus did not suffer all that he did just to make you relevant after death. He died to give you power over life and death.
It was Paul who said: As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. (Rom 8:36 KJV)
Paul was not just being philosophical, he literally died many times (in the many beatings he experienced) but regained his life again because he was awakened to the consciousness of the Spirit that raised Christ from the dead.
Paul understood that not even death could separate him from the love of God. So his influence was not limited to this life alone but even in death, he had the power to choose whether to stay in death or return to life.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. For I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. (Phi 1:21-24 KJV 21)
Jesus Christ won the victory over both life and death, and He has given you authority over the same.
May you use your authority, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
