Many people think that Jesus was just some ordinary prophet. That is laughable! Have you ever wondered what odds there were of casting a hook into the sea and coincidentally catching a fish that somehow swallowed an exact value of a coin? I bet not. Let me break it down for you.
The odds are extraordinarily small – so small that even “believers” would consider it practically impossible as a random coincidence. For who but an Omniscient and an Omnipotent being could pull off something like this?
(And this is just one scenario from amongst countless others to reveal Jesus’ divinity)
According to our opening scripture, Jesus Christ told Peter the Apostle to cast a hook (not even a net) into the sea, and the first fish he caught would contain a coin sufficient to pay their temple tax, no more no less. Think about that…
Several unlikely things had to happen together for this to be:
1. A coin had to end up in the water.
2. A fish had to swallow it.
3. The coin had to remain in the fishโs mouth or stomach.
5. Peter had to catch that exact fish.
6. It had to be the very first fish caught.
7. The coin had to be the exact amount needed. Wow!
Can you imagine all these happening together?
According to research, some of these events are possible individually. Yes, fish do indeed swallow shiny objects including coins. But for all those events to have lined up perfectly at the exact moment Jesus predicted makes the probability astronomically low!
No, that was far from a coincidence, and it was definitely not just a miracle; it was a revelation that the individual pulling this off had perfect knowledge and authority over ALL creation – that is, Omniscience and Omnipotence.
And who else can manifest these qualities but God? So who is Jesus? God! Period.
