BEHOLD THE LAMB…

𝑱𝒐𝒉 1:36 𝑲𝑱𝑽 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒍𝒐𝒐𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒖𝒑𝒐𝒏 𝑱𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒔 𝒂𝒔 𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒍𝒌𝒆𝒅, 𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒕𝒉, 𝑩𝒆𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒎𝒃 𝒐𝒇 𝑮𝒐𝒅!

Today’s Devotional…

Identifying Jesus as the Lamb of God, John the Baptist was confirming a longstanding prophecy from the prophet Isaiah.

In Isaiah 53:7, it was written: “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.”

But why would a man be called a lamb? Well, this was simply because of what Jesus signified. For, just as lambs were projected in a shadow to cover the sins of men for a while, Jesus was destined to take away the sins of all mankind forever.

Calling Jesus a lamb, and this coming from John the Baptist who was a priest, was a clear indication that Jesus was going to be “sacrificed.” Yes, for that was what priests did with lambs in those days.

And, in the end, it was the chief priests who requested the crucifixion of Jesus (who Himself did not resist,) thereby fulfilling the scriptures about the lamb of God as was revealed to Isaiah.

This Jesus is the  Lamb who according to Revelation 13:8, was slain from the foundation of the world. So, the very purpose for which Jesus was identified as the Lamb had to be fulfilled inevitably.

Jesus is the land of God that took away the sin of the world some 2000 years ago! He is NOT planning to take the sins of the world away, He did it 2000 years ago.

May the Holy Spirit bring this conviction to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
