Today’s Devotional

Did you know that the manifestation of signs, wonders, or prophecies that come to pass could simply be a test from God to see how much you love Him? Yes, read our opening text again.

Many Christians today believe that the performance of miracles is clear evidence that God is present in a place. Not necessarily – it could be a test. Imagine celebrating your test instead of writing it. Sad!

Our opening passage indicates that it is possible to witness fulfilled prophecies and miracles without God’s approval and without His intervention.

This does not mean that God cannot perform miracles through His servants. What this portion of Scripture teaches is that you must carefully observe the direction a man of God takes after a miracle before concluding that the miracle was from God.

Any environment of miracles that eventually turns your attention toward spiritual gadgets such as water, oil, stickers, bracelets, or other objects is not of God. (This is the truth according to the Old Testament.)

I know you desperately need a miracle, but please pause and examine things carefully. If you are made to believe that the miracle came through some Jesus-backed oil, water, bracelet, or T-shirt and not through Jesus Christ alone, then you may be in a shrine. Run!

A true man of God is not identified by the miracles he performs, but by how faithfully he presents Christ – and Christ alone. Any sign, wonder, miracle, or prophecy that does not point you to Christ may be a trap of the enemy designed to deceive and exploit you. Wake up!

May the eyes of your understanding be enlightened in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
