What were these “standards” of the world in the verse above that Paul didn’t want the Roman brethren not to conform to, and what are the standards of our world today that we must not conform to? Ponder…
Sadly, the standards of the world that Paul warned against then, are still the same the Holy Spirit is warning us against today.
But unlike the people then who needed these warnings due to their dual experience, first of law and then grace, we today (who were born in grace) didn’t actually need to be warned, but sadly, here we are.
The world projects that no achievement can be attained without human effort. And this is what Moses, through the law, tried in vain for several generations to disprove. Ponder…
Moses made the world believe that to obtain righteousness, one must work very hard in observing his 613 laws. Unfortunately, no one ever obtained righteousness this way.
Today, the world still holds that righteousness can only be achieved through good works even after Jesus Christ has died and resurrected. But what good works can you really do, or what laws can you really obey that no one in the world ever did? Ponder…
Listen, if the sinful man could obtain salvation through the law, there would never have been any need for Jesus to come, suffer all He suffered, and then die. Remember, not even Moses, was saved by his own very law. Ponder…
Now, 2,000 years after Jesus Christ has saved the world from sin, some people still think that they need to work out their own righteousness by themselves. Laughable. What do you want to do that Enoch, Moses, or Elijah did not do? Wake up, please!
Renew your mind, and accept the gift of God in the finished works of Christ. Study your righteousness and live according to its norms.
There is no human formula for getting righteousness. If you cannot accept it as a gift from Christ, you can never have it. Selah
May the Holy Spirit be your Helper in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
