Todayโs Devotionalโฆ
A gift is something you do not work for, earn, or deserve. It is freely given out of love. In the same way, the righteousness that comes from God is not a product of human effort, but a gift received from Christ.
Paul clearly distinguishes between two kinds of righteousness: one that comes from the law and one that comes from God. The righteousness of the law depends on performance, but the righteousness of God is given freely in Christ.
This means that the moment Christ died on the cross, man was made righteous before God. Not gradually, not partially, but instantly and completely.
You donโt grow to become righteous; you grow in the understanding of the righteousness you have already received from the finished works of Christ.
Many still try to earn what has already been given to them freely. They struggle, striving to be accepted, not realizing that acceptance came for all on the cross.
Righteousness is not your reward for good behavior; it is your inheritance in Christ; your nature from birth in Him.
So today, stop trying to qualify for what is already yours. Receive the gift. Walk in it. Live with the confidence that you are already right with God not because of what you have done, but because of what Christ has done. Ponderโฆ
May the Holy Spirit reveal to you the fullness of this gift of righteousness, and cause you to walk boldly in it from today, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
