Today’s Devotional…

The scriptures promised that a “Messiah” would come, except that the true assignment of this “Messiah” was never really fully defined objectively.

This ambiguity in the office of the Messiah gave rise to numerous speculations among different generations, usually according to their contemporary challenges.

So, every time the Israelites were in captivity for instance, they expected the “Messiah” to be a warlord who would lead a rebellion and free them from captivity.

These expectations kept changing over time: when they were sick, they thought the Messiah should be a healer, when they were in need they expected him to be a provider, etc.

To this day, many people still don’t understand the mission of the Messiah even though He has actually come and accomplished His assignment already.

Today, “the poor” believe that Jesus Christ (the Messiah) was supposed to take away poverty. But in our opening verse, He clearly stated the poor would always be around even after He had finished His assignment. Ponder…

Listen, the only thing Jesus Christ (the Messiah) came to take away was sin. Period.

Poverty is not a sin, nor is it a spirit to be cast out. There are principles and regulations can handle poverty; one of them is hard work.

May the Holy Spirit give you all understanding about the finished works of the ยซMessiah”, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
