Today’s Devotional…
To understand what the verse above says, you must first of all understand what it does NOT say.
The verse does NOT say that resisting the lust of the flesh can grant you the power to walk in the spirit. No, it is the walking in the spirit that affects your lustful desires and not the other way round.
Walking in the spirit does not mean struggling to live a “holy life” and fighting temptations to keep your body clean.
Walking in the spirit simply means understanding that you are a spirit being, and feeding your body with everything spiritual to nourish your spirit being. This is when you realize that your natural body no longer responds to the lustful desires of the flesh.
When you walk in the spirit, you do not struggle with lustful desires. Not being able to fulfill the desires of the flesh is just a natural outcome of walking in the spirit. Know the difference and find rest.
Walking in the spirit means feeding on spiritual food, which is the word of God, and engaging in spiritual exercises that keep you too busy to notice your flesh. Try it and see.
May this understanding bring you liberty in the spirit and in the flesh, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
